Summary: The Manager is responsible for ensuring assigned service and administrative support areas operate in support of the company goals and mission statement. Responsibilities include supervising staff in performance of assigned duties, care of pets and customer satisfaction. Managers report to the Owner.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Proactively supports company mission statement and customer service standards

2. Create and maintain operating procedures for Daycare, Boarding, Facilities, Petey’s Pals, Puppy Programs 

3. Manage facility and personnel ensuring client and animal care services are provided in compliance with company procedures

4. Recommend increases as circumstances warrant to established rates & fees

5. Recommend changes as needed to established client policies and monitor for effectiveness.

6. Monitor staff performance related to execution of service to expectations. Oversee performance of new staff & annual performance reviews. Ensure corrective action is performed as necessary, is done as per Supervisor Handbook and properly documented.

7. Oversee interviewing and hiring in accordance with employment laws/company procedures and proper documentation of new employee files.

8. Create and maintain staff training program in service areas. Ensure all staff complete Orientation and other general staff training programs timely.

9. Monitor occupancy and service growth rates in assigned service areas

10. Identify slow periods and/or downturns and coordinate with marketing to feature service and/or modify policies & procedures to turn around performance

11. Create new programs related to service area as needed or appropriate & coordinate marketing plans w/ manager

12. Handle client service issue escalations in a manner that maintains company’s reputation

13. Set area goals to support overall business goals and initiate changes to rectify shortfalls

14. Monitor payroll efficiency/cost versus revenues earned

15. Demonstrate strong leadership and customer service skills to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Responsible for the ongoing improvement in the quality of service provided to daycare and boarding clients by the floor staff. 

16. Perform cross-trained duties as requested and as described in the respective job descriptions for:

a. Dog Handler

b. Pet Care Coordinator

c. Bather/Brusher

d. Weekend Supervisor 

e. Guest Services/front of house 


General Administrative Duties:

  • Prioritize and complete duties within the overall business goals

  • Maintain “to do” lists and project lists with priorities, target completion dates and current status

  • Delegate tasks that others can complete under your supervision & guidance

  • Meet critical deadlines or request assistance from management team

  • Monitor supply stocks/purchases/usage & explore low cost alternatives


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Open or close Company facility as needed and requested by management

  • Be available as needed for weekend, holiday, or potty run staff call outs and be available for other issues that escalate to management team.

  • Serve as weekend supervisors’ main point of contact if any issues. 

  • Serve as contact for alarm if it goes off after hours 

  • Be available as needed for weekend or holiday pet or facility issues that escalate to management team.

  • Oversee proper use of equipment in assigned areas and maintenance as required.

  • Work with Owner for capital expenditure additions or replacements of

  • equipment.

  • Maintain good working relationship with supply and maintenance vendors requesting service as required.

  • Management projects as assigned

  • Other duties as assigned
